Eitan--so sane making to hear someone call this out. Every time I hear the news (mostly npr, bbc and nyt cause I listen to radio) it drives me crazy that there is so little emphasis on Iran.
It also drives me crazy that no one seems to know or care about the history of this region.
Also the ambiguity and in my opinion likely overly broad use of terms such as “settlements” and “refugee camps”. At what point is a new village or city no longer a settlement? At what point or what characteristics make some place a “camp” vs a new village or city established by former refugees. For example is “bowling green” a condominium complex in Denver inhabited by a lot of former refugees and immigrants a “refugee camp” ? I don’t think anyone would apply that term so why are so many places where palestineans have settled considered “camps” so many decades layer? Is the whole state of Israel a refugee camp for Jews who have fled their home countries when they became hostile?
Definitely the whole medicine thing was a farce from beginning to end. Were there really people who believed the hostages would get their medications? Sometimes lies are the only way to get what is wanted, for instance the US arming Israel after Oct. 7. Much more likely to be approved in the US if the US is seen as helping Israel defend itself from an inferior enemy holding its hostages than to get approval for weapons for Israel to fight Iran. Whoa! no-one there wants to take on Iran. I enjoyed your thoughts. I'd like to hear more about Lebanon.
I think there is probably some utility for someone in each lie, but I feel like there's a critical mass of BS and it's starting to drive me crazy. Since I have no official position I can say it how it is. 😜

Yep. And we all know it. It's extremely cynical...

I will try to talk more about Lebanon in the next one!
